Unique holidays in our converted barns
Hexdown is a collection of beautifully converted farm buildings and
barns in Bigbury-on-Sea, South Devon. We have two luxurious stone
barn conversions available for self catering holidays, all year
round. We live full time in the third barn and are on hand to offer
help and advice.
Individual holiday homes
Both holiday barns have been finished
to an extremely high standard and contain many individual and
interesting features.
Great care has been taken to furnish
and equip the barns to create an atmosphere of ‘your home away from
home’.
The larger of the two barns, Owl’s
Roost, has four bedrooms and can accommodate up to ten people.
Sandpiper Lodge, the smaller barn, has two bedrooms and can sleep up
to six. Both barns have their own private gardens and ample parking
is available.
Because of the
proximity of the barns to one another, they are ideal for large
groups or a number of families wishing to spend time on holiday
together.
The immediate area
The holiday homes are situated in a hidden
valley reached by a private road shared with Bigbury Golf
Club. They have stunning views over the River Avon and surrounding
countryside. They are within walking distance of several safe and
sandy beaches and also Burgh Island,
linked
to the mainland by a tidal causeway. The island is a
unique spot with its romantic and eccentric Art Deco hotel and 14C
inn, ‘The Pilchards’. In addition the village of Bigbury, within a
mile’s drive, boasts a further two public houses and two well
equipped shops. South Devon in general and in particular the Bigbury
Bay area, has
great beaches and a wonderful, varied
coastline, ideal for walking.
A magical holiday experience
Hexdown provides the ideal holiday
base for families wanting a ‘Swallows and Amazons’ type adventure
exploring the River Avon, or for energetic types wanting to take
part in the sailing, surfing, golf and many other activities the
area has to offer.
The magic of Hexdown holiday homes is in its unique
location in the heart of an area of outstanding beauty. A long way
away from the ‘madding crowds’, nestling at the bottom of a private
lane, the atmosphere is one of peace and tranquillity.
